About the country

Guatemala is high altitude country with volcanic, feral soil, but coffee here can grow to 2000 mamsl. It has ideal, volcanic, soil for cultivation. The grains mature more slowly and have a harder core. It is caused by long, warm, sunny days and short but cold and humid nights.

Guatemalan Cup of Excellence

Guatemala coffee institute organise every year a competition in best taste of specialty coffee. It´s called Cup of Excellence. This competiton has it´s own certificated judges, who are approved by Institute of Specialty Coffee. This competition grades best twelve lots, most of them is usually from the same farms.This suggest that best farms produce best coffee no matter of which variety.

Coffee trees grow at altitude up to 2000 mamsl, which is really high for any plants to grow. Despite this fact, the coffee from here are really unique. The number two fact of uniqueness because of transport from war country to the whole wide world. We are really grateful for projects like Long Miles – they do a really good job.

In this blend we can mostly find Caturra, because that is a very common variety in Guatemala. Above all it contains Typica, Catuaí and Bourbon as well.
